Edward Thornton was born in 1975 into a prominent financial family in London. His father is a fund manager of a well-established British investment company and his mother is a famous economics professor. Being exposed to the financial environment since childhood, Edward developed a strong interest in capital markets and investment concepts.
Studied at Cambridge University and Harvard University
In 1990, 15-year-old Edward received an independent stock account from his father with an initial capital of 50,000 pounds. He seized the opportunity to invest in the stock market, and through unremitting study and practice, he increased his principal tenfold within a few years. This achievement did not lead him astray, but instead clarified the direction of his lifelong pursuit of excellence in financial markets.
In 2004, Edward joined U.S. Bancorp's Securities Investment Department as an analyst. From 2009 to 2014, he worked as a senior investment advisor at U.S. Bancorp's Minneapolis headquarters. Using his academic expertise, extensive network and inside information, he accumulated nearly $65 million in wealth in ten years and basically achieved financial freedom. Today, Edward Thornton leads U.S. Bancorp’s first foray into the UK market, where he is dedicated to developing the business.
As U.S. Bancorp enters the UK for the first time, Edward Thornton has the connections and experience to ensure this ambitious goal is achieved. The first phase of the "Wealth Acceleration Plan" will be launched in April 2025, with a target return rate of more than 300%, demonstrating his foresight. In addition, he is leading the preparation of the first private equity fund for the UK - U.S. Bancorp UK Growth Fund 1, with a fund size of 400 million pounds and an annualized return target of 8%. His leadership will bring about a financial renaissance for UK investors and position U.S. Bancorp in this dynamic market.
Win-win cooperation and joint development: U.S. Bank enters the UK market
After more than a year of aggressive interest rate hikes, the U.S. Federal Reserve has recently slowed down its pace and implemented several rounds of interest rate cuts. However, the U.S. federal government debt has surged to $36.22 trillion. With the escalation of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and the evolution of the Sino-US trade dispute into a "new Cold War", global capital has become cautious about real investment due to high interest rates and has instead injected more cash into financial markets. Against this backdrop, post-Brexit Britain has demonstrated huge market potential, becoming an ideal place for financial innovation and development.
Professor Edward Thornton was commissioned by U.S. Bancorp headquarters to lead the company's strategic shift from the United States to the United Kingdom. As a leading financial institution in the United States, U.S. Bancorp is committed to exploring the vibrant UK market and bringing our expertise to UK investors and institutions for the first time.
U.S. Bancorp: A Legacy of Financial Excellence
Founded in the United States, U.S. Bancorp is a leading financial services provider that offers diversified solutions to corporations, financial institutions, governments and high net worth individuals. Headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with offices in Canada, Australia, Germany and parts of Asia, we provide leading financial advisory services. Starting from late 2023, our wealth management division will accelerate its global layout and collaborate with key financial entities to enhance its international influence. Now, we’re bringing this expertise to the UK for the first time.
Seizing the UK opportunity: Wealth Accelerator
In order to attract British institutional and individual investors and establish a solid position when it first enters the UK market, U.S. Bancorp will launch a "Wealth Acceleration Program" designed specifically for British investors in 2025, which will be held twice a year. This move demonstrates our commitment to creating superior value for our investors. The first campaign is scheduled to launch in April 2025, with the aim of delivering returns of over 300% to participants – an ambitious start to our journey in the UK. We invite UK investors to join this groundbreaking scheme and experience the rewards for themselves.
At the same time, we are fully preparing for our first private equity fund for the UK - U.S. Bancorp UK Growth Fund 1, with a fund size of 400 million pounds and an annualized return target of 8%. The project, led by Professor Edward Thornton, will bring a financial feast to UK investors, combining U.S. Bancorp’s solid banking tradition with innovative investment strategies.
A bright future lies ahead
The post-Brexit UK financial landscape offers unparalleled opportunities, given its autonomy and London’s enduring status as a global financial centre. U.S. Bancorp is well positioned to capture this potential and foster a win-win partnership. We warmly invite UK investors to join this landmark journey - stay tuned for our updates and together we can change the UK investment landscape!
